the March 20th show at Cafe Amsterdam
For those that did not get a chance to come out, I'm posting some video footage from last week's performance. I was so overjoyed by everyone that came out to support my work and motivated to keep writing and sharing all that I do. I know I surprised everyone by breaking out the bass guitar, you know it had to come out of the shed at some point!
Happy watching and be sure to stay tuned for more updates on shows and appearances in the coming months.
I'm about to have quite a night. I cannot wait to see my girl Mayaeni on stage tonight! I had the privilege of performing with her in New York last fall, right before she got her record deal!! If you can make it come on down to Hotel Cafe, 6:30pm.
Then we're heading to my bass teacher's show at the Key Club, 10pm. Lonnie Marshall of Weapon of Choice is, and I quote, "an LA staple."
Here's to live music!!
Mayaeni 6:30pm @ The Hotel Cafe 1623 1/2 N Cahuenga Blvd. Hollywood, CA $10
Weapon of Choice 10pm @ the Key Club 9039 W Sunset Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90069 (310) 786-1712
I am sitting here tonight watching Jill Scott on YouTube for inspiration as I embark on my first ever official solo performance as Kelley Nicole! Yes, now on this blog, where I discuss and share many of the female artists (and male as well) that inspire me I must share details of my own show. I am very excited and if you are reading this, I hope you will stop by North Hollywood on Friday night to join me.
Kelley Nicole performs at F.R.E.E. Fridays @ Cafe Amsterdam 10905 Magnolia Blvd North Hollywood, CA 91601 (818) 506-1938 (near the corner of Magnolia and Vineland) 9pm, no cover
And check out the video below for more updates on what I've been working on.
Oh my goodness, I couldn't get enough of this guy this morning. Ely Kim, a graduate student in Yale's graphic design program, created "BOOMBOX" as his entry for Michael Bierut's 100 Days Workshop. The 9 minute 36 second video is Kim's document of himself on 100 days in 100 locations doing 100 dances to 100 songs. I was quite inspired on this normal Monday morning, if only we could all be this free.....I may have to take a dance break today at the office. Awww yeah.
It's fun to watch for the music alone, talk about the perfect workout playlist!
